Questions worth asking

If you're considering coaching—with me or with anyone—these are the questions you should be asking. I've tried to answer them as honestly as I can.

If something isn't covered here, drop me a line. I'd rather you asked than wondered.

the basics

Please reach me at coaching@hilary-williams.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I work with mid-to-senior leaders navigating burnout, transition, values conflicts, and the quieter question of what comes next. My approach draws on transformational coaching, and where it serves the client, elements of mentoring and consultative thinking. I don't work from a fixed framework or a predetermined agenda; we work from what you bring.

I offer 1:1 coaching programmes, standalone Strategy Sessions, and, coming soon, group coaching and workshops.

Leaders who are still performing but running on empty. People at significant transition points. People who've lost their own voice inside their organisation and aren't sure how to find it again. People who are high-functioning, deeply capable, and quietly falling apart.

They're not looking for career advice or a structured programme to follow. They're looking for a thinking partner who won't flinch, no matter the subject at hand.

Transformational coaching works at a deeper level than performance or skills coaching. Rather than focusing on what you do, it works on how you think, what you believe, and what's getting in the way of the decisions and changes you already know you need to make. It's not about fixing you—there's nothing to fix. It's about creating the conditions in which you can think clearly, hear your own answers, and act from a place of genuine authority rather than borrowed certainty.

the process

Please reach me at coaching@hilary-williams.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We start with a free 30-minute discovery call to understand what's going on for you and whether we're the right fit to work together. If it feels right, I'll send you a proposal setting out what we'd work on and what the investment looks like. You'll have time to consider it before we speak again. Once you're ready to proceed, we agree terms, you complete a Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment, and we begin.

Sessions are one hour, held online or in person depending on location and preference. Most clients work fortnightly, though we can adjust the pace to suit you.

The standard programme is six sessions, which most clients find gives them enough time and space to do real work. Some stop there. Others continue. There's no pressure either way; we review at session six and go from there.

If you have a specific and bounded need rather than a longer-term question, a standalone 90-minute Strategy Session may be more appropriate. We can talk through which is right for you on the discovery call.

Primarily online, which means I can work with clients anywhere. If you're based in or around the East Midlands and would prefer to meet in person, that's a conversation worth having.

Yes—I provide a clear, straightforward set of terms before we begin. It covers the number of sessions we've agreed, the investment, notice periods, and what each of us can expect from the other. It's not complicated, but it matters. A good coaching relationship is built on clarity from the start.

The investment

Please reach me at coaching@hilary-williams.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Coaching is an investment in yourself—in your thinking, your clarity, and your next chapter. The right question isn't whether it costs money; it's whether the return is worth it.

I don't publish fees on this page because the right programme depends on what you need.

What I will tell you is that this is a significant investment, and it's right for people who are ready to take that seriously. The discovery call is the place to talk about what's involved—there's no obligation, and I'll always be honest with you about whether it makes sense to go further.

Strategy Sessions are £300 for 90 minutes, with an optional written summary available for an additional £50.

Yes—many clients are supported by their organisation, particularly in the energy, innovation, aviation, and public sectors. If you'd like to explore this, I can provide documentation to support an internal business case. Get in touch and we can talk through what that looks like.

I hold ICF ACC credentials and a Transformational Coaching Diploma from Animas (completed December 2025). I also hold a Neurodivergent Coaching Diploma (pending). I work in full alignment with the ICF Code of Ethics and core competencies.

My background is in science and senior leadership—a PhD in Molecular Biology, over fifteen years at Rolls-Royce Plc, and current work leading complex innovation programmes in the energy sector. I understand the environments my clients are operating in from the inside.

Because I'm not coaching from theory. I've navigated complex organisations, held senior leadership roles, managed teams, delivered under pressure, and experienced the kind of values conflicts and transition points my clients bring to sessions. That doesn't mean I have your answers—I don't. But it means I understand the terrain, and I won't need it explained to me.

Yes.

I have specific training in neurodivergent coaching and a particular interest in working with leaders whose neurodivergence has been an asset, a challenge, or—most often—both at once.

If this is relevant to you, it's worth mentioning when you get in touch.
